Our Story
Chabad of Yorkville was established to serve the Jewish community of the Yorkville area . It is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of affiliation or prior level of knowledge. Its sole purpose is to create a warm, welcoming environment to explore and experience Judaism's warm and relevant spiritual inspirations in a non-judgmental and inviting atmosphere.
Since its inception, Chabad of Yorkville strives to meet the needs of the community with religious services, and social events, as well as an array of programming.
Chabad of Yorkville is a branch of Chabad of Midtown. Rabbi Nechemia and Dvora Deitsch , directors of Chabad of Midtown, have been servicing the Yorkville area in the last 25 years. Due to the increasing of the Jewish population in the Yorkville area they have set to establish a new permanent centre on Bloor & Avenue in addition to the Chabad community Centre in Midtown.
Meet the Deitschs

Rabbi Mendel & Mussy Deitsch along with their son Sholly moved to Toronto and founded Chabad of Yorkville.
Rabbi Mendel grew up in Midtown, Toronto, before pursuing studies in Jewish thought and practice in France & New York, and received his rabbinical ordination in New York. His infectious optimism and joyful personality drives his commitment and dedication to his community.
Mussy was born and raised in Long Island and is a passionate educator for children, and teaching classes for women. She also has exquisite taste which shines through all the events at Chabad she plans.
